I remember an interview with him ( I think it was on Parkinson) where he stated that he was approached regarding the Saint movie.  Hugh said that the producer saw the Saint as an aggressive burglar.  Hugh said he didn't think this sounded much fun and referred to the Roger Moore Saint as the one he remembered and was in favour of.
With these views the producer went elsewhere.

Talking of movies  I was recently on the Roger Moore site and was reading one of his replies to a question where he stated that he thought shooting would start this summer.  Has anyone got any news?

  I am a Hugh Grant supporter for the part too as I have mentioned in previous emails. Does anyone know if he has ever been approached and would be interested if the script was right (unlike the Val Kilmer movie which, I agree, was a good adventure movie but certainly not any version of The Saint I know).
