I hope that the new Saint series will revive something that has been woefully missing from television of late: glamour and elegance.
For too many years, television series have featured so-called "gritty" settings and "hard-edged" characters, many of them recovering (or ongoing) alcoholics, recovering (or ongoing) drug addicts, and every one of them anti-heroes. In my view, the reason that Simon Templar's distant (but much less clever) cousin, James Bond, survives and thrives today is because of its glamourous settings and people. Even the villains are glamourous and elegant!
